Call for Papers

We are delighted to invite you to the Department of Archaeology, University of York, for the third instalment of the IOW-ARCH (Indian Ocean World Archaeology) conference on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th of December 2024.

 

The IOW-Arch 2024 conference will be a hybrid event with both in-person and Zoom options. The conference will begin on Thursday 12th, with an introduction and presentations, followed by a reception and a conference dinner (at participants' own expense). The conference will conclude on Friday the 13th with presentations followed by closing remarks and discussion.

 

Papers are welcome on all aspects of the archaeology, material culture and heritage of the Indian Ocean (defined as from East Africa to Japan, including Australasia) from the first millennium BC to the contemporary era, and may include reports on research in progress. Presentations should be in English and must not exceed 15 minutes, with a further 5 minutes allowed for questions.

 

Abstracts of up to 250 words should be submitted via this Google form. You will need to sign into Google to submit. If you encounter problems with this system, please email us at info@iow-arch.com The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 1st June 2024.

 

Registration will be required for all attendants (in-person and online). Details to follow.
