ABOUT
Following on from the very successful inaugural IOW-Arch conference held on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th January 2020, the second IOW-Arch is a hybrid event planned for Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th December 2022. This is being held at the Institute of Arab and Islamic studies (IAIS), University of Exeter, who are generously providing financial support.
The driving force behind the Indian Ocean World Archaeology Conference is the major growth in relevant studies over the years and the promotion of a forum where this research can be discussed and developed to promote the success of the future of Indian Ocean studies. The aim of this conference is to facilitate this and allow fellow researchers to meet, get to know each other and talk about and share their work on an international, informal platform.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the 2020 IOW-Arch conference so fruitful and enjoyable, and we hope you will all join us for years installment, whether online via zoom or in person. A drinks reception will follow proceedings on Monday 19th and there will be a conference dinner (at participants expense) after the closing remarks and discussion on Tuesday 20th December.
Please navigate this site for further details, including the call for papers, the organising and academic committees, registration and abstract submission, and information on the IOW-Arch 2020.
Enquiries can be made through the form on the Contact us page, or directly by email or via Twitter.
